These are the producing mares of Rancho No Robles. Although it may seem to be a rather diverse group, they match well with both stallions, and will produce either Pintos, Arabs, or Half-Arabs with exceptional color, pedigree and conformation.
Doc O Bell Baby - '82 Brown Quarter Horse SOLD!
Bell has a heart as big as a barn. She shattered her left front foot as a five year old, but refused to let it stop her. She is lame, but a wonderful broodmare and excellent mother. She is cutting/reining bred on top and bottom, and produces correct, athletic youngsters.
Moya El Ajzaa - '84 Flaxen Chestnut Sabino Arabian
Moya is the most recent addition to my broodmare band. She immediately endeared herself to me by training Creme Carmel in the finer points of live cover, and instantly getting pregnant. She is a beautiful near-liver with a flaxen mane and tail.
RNR Ta-Molly - '89 Large Standard Slate Dun Jennet
Ta-Molly is one of the first inhabitants of Rancho No Robles. She is a kind, loving soul - and very good at giving "Why me?" looks. She has produced two clones of herself when bred to my spotted jack. She decided to be different
in 2000, and gave me a spotted little gal, RNR Koko Channel. See Channel on my junior mare page.
Catalina Blue - '94 Cremello Sabino Mustang SOLD!
Catalina is not the most beautiful horse to look at. But if you have some riding to do, and want to get someplace without bouncing out of the saddle - she's the one to ride. This gal is absolutely beautiful in motion. She is
gaited, and I am told she does an Indian Shuffle. She has produced a palomino tovero filly by Eternal Jester (on the junior mare page), and a buckskin(grey) sabino colt by Sand Creek in May 2000.
Cowgirl Logic - '91 Bay Tobiano Paint
"Whomper" is, essentially, the foundation mare of Rancho No Robles. She delivered the first foal born here, and has been a consistent producer of loudly marked Paint babies.
Sweet Champagne - '96 Amber Champagne 7/8 Arab
"Freckles" is one of those rare finds - I was in the right place at the right time - just as this beautiful amber champagne poked her head out of a stall door. My first words as I saw her were, "Uh Oh."I knew she needed to live with me. Freckles produced a beautiful filly, Avila Bay, in 2000. She produced an amber champagne filly, Champagne Sweetheart, in 2001, and an amber champagne colt, Champagne Ambassador, in 2002 - both of the champages were sired by Creme Carmel.
Junior Broodmares....
Stellar Ice - '96 Grey (bay) Arabian
Stellar is the last foal from my favorite mare - so earned her way into my herd by that route. She is tiny - 13.3 hands, but exquisitely beautiful. She is booked to Wildwynn Romeo for 2001.
Chamomile Tea - '97 Palomino Sabino Half-Arabian
"Cammy" is the result of our first attempt to breed for palomino. Her mother was already in foal when we found out her "cremello" sire was a gold cream champagne instead! For the longest time we were not sure if Cammy was a gold champagne or a palomino, but we finally figured it out.
Awesome Snow - '97 Cremello Paint
I found Rutabaga while looking at advertisements in the Paint Horse Journal. The ad for the little cremello overo filly caught my eye. So I asked about her, and she had already been sold. She was clear across the country in Louisiana, so I thought it was not to be. But I got the name for the new owner, and he only bought her to get her mother, so we eventually made the deal. She was five months old when she arrived in California, and was not in good humor! We did become friends, and her humor is much better now. She likes to torment Cammy's mother, always with an innocent look in her blue eyes!
Skipablue San Poco - '98 Grey Champagne Paint
Grace was my first Internet horse discovery. I found her on a champagne discussion list where we were trying to figure out what her base color is. Turns out she tests "AaEecrcrOo." With grey. So she's likely amber, but could be on a seal brown base. She definitely has the champagne gene, as do her look-alike dam and full brother. And she's tests out to be a frame overo - without spots. I had
her shipped in from Iowa when she was a yearling. I spent the next week looking at her every five minutes, thinking I could figure out what color
she is. It took years, and lots of DNA testing, but we have it figured out.
Snow Lily - '99 Palomino (all white) Tovero
Lily is, so far, the biggest surprise of my horse breeding enterprise. I was shocked when my guaranteed palomino foal was born all white. She is an all-white pinto, her blue eyes from splashed white, and the rest of her sabino. Her tobiano markers indicate she is also a tobiano. Lily is just full of surprises.
Dolly - '99 Buckskin Dun Splashed White Pintaloosa
Dolly is quite a find for a color breeder such as myself. She has more different color genes than you can shake a stick at! She is another
Internet horse - discovered in Ontario, Canada! Dolly's parents are both registered Appaloosas, but she has crop-out pinto white which disqualifies
her for Appaloosa registration. She will produce wonderful Half-Arabs and Pintaloosas.
RNR Koko Channel - '00 Spotted Slate Large Standard SOLD!
What can I say? Channel is possibly the world's cutest baby donkey. She is quite a
rambunctious little donkey, and spends most of the day thinking of mischievous things to do. Her favorite trick seems to be the occasional
imitation of a wild hare. When taken out of her pen, she heads for the hills in joyous abandon. She is quite the little character. No breeding
plans have yet been made for Channel. Her current job is to provide comic relief.
